Yolanda Denise Cooper, born in Manhattan, New York, in 1962, grew up in New York City and North Carolina, attending public schools in the South. In 1980, she pursued an internship in journalism at Regency University, leading to her role as a news anchor for CBS News at WTKR in Virginia Beach, Virginia. That same year, she joined CBS News in Manhattan and contributed to Face the Nation from the White House in Washington, D.C.

A multifaceted professional, Cooper is celebrated as a celebrity, actress, fashion makeup artist, model, hairstylist, designer, and merchandiser. Her creative talents have made her a standout figure in fashion and entertainment. In 2016, she earned an Associate Degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University, showcasing her dedication to growth. She later achieved a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in Business Administration, further solidifying her expertise in the field.

Cooper also made history as the first African American woman to play professional NFL football, serving as a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1980 to 1989. Her groundbreaking achievements in sports, media, and fashion continue to inspire future generations.

CoverGirl
One of Cooper’s favorite companies, CoverGirl, became a significant part of her career in 1980 when she modeled their makeup products. Founded in 1961, CoverGirl was renowned for America’s best cosmetic products. The brand transformed her look with stunning before-and-after results, and she proudly wore their products for over 30 years. Cooper expresses her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for the opportunity to be among you. I appreciate your support throughout the years of my career.”

 

Avon
In 1980, Cooper also became an Avon Representative, introduced to the brand by a neighborhood friend. From her very first day, she successfully sold their products and built a loyal clientele. Over the years, she grew within the company and introduced Avon to friends and acquaintances in her area. Cooper has been a devoted user of Avon products for 33 years. Her dedication was recognized with a Digital Marketing Award in 2022, 2023, and 2024. She thanks Avon, saying, “Thank you so much for your support through the years.”

Mr. George Simonton, her professor at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, PA, and The Art Institute of San Francisco, California, was a successful designer who taught her how to create patterns for fashion. Cooper expresses her gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much, I love you.”

Ms. Donna Karan, the renowned fashion designer and creator of DKNY, hired Cooper in 1980 to work for her prestigious brand. Cooper participated in runway shows and presentations in Pittsburgh, PA, London, France, Germany, Italy, Europe, and Greece. She extends her heartfelt thanks, saying, “Thank you so much, I love you.”
